PREMESSA E CONSIDERAZIONI GENERALI

Alla luce della continua e crescente diffusione della lingua angloamericana come lingua veicolare mondiale consolidata, si intensificano gli sforzi e le richieste delle altre lingue per contendersi un posto privilegiato come lingue straniere e/o seconde (L2) più usate ed accreditate. Tra queste ultime spiccano alcune con maggiore diffusione, importanza politico-economica, linguistica o strategiche (che è ovvio menzionare); altre come la lingua italiana, considerata lingua colta di alto lignaggio storico-culturale, patrimonio primario dell’umanità, ma che interessa sempre meno ai grandi della terra. Le lingue di uso colto come l’italiano, richiedono una costante e intenzionale promozione. La perdita di funzioni in alcune di esse va contrastata con un’elaborazione creativa sistematica e rispondente ai caratteri e ciascuna lingua. L’offerta di lingue straniere non deve essere determinata soltanto da considerazioni di utilità pratica: criterio di scelta deve essere anche il valore culturale ed educativo delle lingue vive, così come della loro storia. Per questa ragione va garantito un posto anche alle cosiddette lingue classiche, che hanno coniato in modo fondamentale la civiltà europea, mediterranea ed italiana in particolare, i cui riflessi sono presenti noti e diffusi, anche grazie all’emigrazione italiana, in tutti i 5 continenti.
