In Italy to get the access to Universities you need a final 5 years high school Diploma. University Courses allow a legal title of university Diplomas or short Degrees (3 years); normal Degrees (from to 4 to 6 years) and successives post lauream studies: Doctorship/ Master Researches, Schools and Courses of Specialization.

Master in Research is an academic title of 3 or 4 years, exclusively valuable  in scientific research;

Schools of Specialization offer to graduates a specific professional training formation, so giving them all possibilities to acquire advanced skills and competences to be utilized in working activities. They are two-years' length or more, have limited entries, permitting to achieve a legal specializing title;

Courses of Specialization give result to the exigency to deepen the studies of determined sectors, but also as a necessity of in-service, refreshing and retraining of working people. They generally have a length up to one year (now two-years, even for a few) and at the end of any Course the partecipating people receive a Certificate of Attendance, valid only as a cultural title which gives right to a specific value or score for professional lists.
